When was the last time you left the drive-through window without at least a little bit of regret?
Between the soaring costs of everything and knowing that you and your family just had a less-than-healthy meal, it’s hard not to feel some guilt after fast food.
But for families with players in travel sports, fast-food ends up becoming a survival tool.
If you factor in the stress of the travel and remembering everything and making it to where you need to be on time, you have a recipe for your family’s wellness slowly unraveling.
How do we balance the well-being of our families and still rise to meet the demands of the travel sports schedule?
For our baseball family, we know that at least some travel ball will be necessary, but to what end? Aren’t some of the benefits of it outweighed by the stress and sub-par nutrition?
Especially if your player doesn’t end up getting that scholarship or offer, how much of your own health and wellbeing is worth paying for the chance?
We think that travel baseball has missed the mark. It’s not a place where players are actually growing on average. It’s a place where families are being bled dry by private equity-owned sports brands that don’t care about our well-being; financial, nutritional, or otherwise.
We’re building an alternative. We want to help families and coaches focus on skill work and player development instead of constant performance.
